Design Studio: Introduction to professional practice
300-level course developed and taught at Wheaton College, MA
This course is designed to simulate professional work in groups on real projects for clients on campus. Students work together on research, design and project management. Class meetings begin with standup or group meetings. Multiple projects run simultaneously, emulating studio practice, which allows all students to be involved in a variety of projects and take on multiple roles.
Students use and evaluate contemporary tools for work including Slack, Miro, Basecamp and Google Drive. They tracking their time against estimates and deliver files using industry standard software.

Fab Lab Onboarding & Info Design
Students worked with the manager of the Fab Lab and student staff to design training materials and publicize policies in keeping with the inviting and warm lab vibe.

Career Service Research & Design
After conducting auto-ethnography, working with career staff and surveying students, one team defined concepts to improve how students access career services support on campus.

Heuristic review: Lexos text analysis web app
Students started with established heuristic principles and worked with Professor Mark LeBlanc’s app and Computer Science course.

Research, analysis and design to improve two classrooms
Students surveyed faculty and students who use two classrooms, analyzed responses, room contents and function to redesign schematic layout to improve flow, access and increase seats.
