Interactive Information Design 2
Graduate MPS in Digital Media, Interaction Design Concentration, Northeastern University
I teach graduate digital media students research techniques for understanding people, environments and information needs and methods for designing complex systems.
Students create models, design and test prototypes to improve user experiences across multiple touchpoints.
Work shown is from two areas of focus that the course has explored: students’ experiences with the NU digital Campus and speculative information experiences in public spaces.
Investigating Students’ Experiences with the NU Digital Campus
Students work together to investigate their experiences becoming NU students and adapting to the NU digital campus. After research and design cycles, students narrow in on an area to explore from their perspectives working with campus tech administrators. Images shown are from research and analysis phases.
Communicating experiences through journey maps.
Mapping analysis of the NUWorks application and identifying opportunities for prototypes of alternative interactions and interfaces.
Analyzing resources and experiences.
Prior to the pandemic students learned ethnographic research methods and spent time observing people in public spaces. After observation and analysis, students create prototypes that speculate on alternative methods for accessing information.
